The ‘Treasury Relief’ from the North Stairs of the Apadana at Persepolis

Stoneman believes that the seated king is Xerxes (though he has also been identified as Darius, which would make Xerxes the Crown Prince standing behind him). Either way, this is one of the only surviving contemporary portraits of Xerxes (and to be honest all the kings look the same). Intriguingly, if it is Xerxes, then the figure approaching the throne is probably Artabanus.
